JESC 2010 - The Vote

rachel traets

The Netherlands, the triumph of 2011, the country where the best song most definitely won. Am I making my favourite too obvious? Allow me to continue and say Noah was robbed of a spot in the final. ;) So AVRO sorted the finalists into two semis:

Yassir - Beautiful 2nd
Rachel - Ik ben een Teenager 1st
Polle - Music in my heart 3rd
Sera - Never give up 4th

Joel - Ik denk aan jou 1st
Nikki, June & Merijn (JuNme) - Magie 4th
Noah - Twitterqueen 3rd
Lidewei - Dit is wat ik wil 2nd

Online voting gave Sera the wildcard, so she joined Rachel, Yassir, Joel & Lidewei in the final. In the final, Rachel got maximum points from the adult jury, kid jury and televoting so was the clear winner. Yassir came 2nd.

13-year old Rachel Traets was born on August, 16 1998 and lives in Wouw, a small village in the south-west of the Netherlands. During the national selection for the Junior Song Contest Rachel received the maximum amount of points from the jury and the audience at and became the winner with her song Teenager.

Teenager tells the story of the midway between childhood and adulthood. As a true teenager, Rachel prefers to have fun with her friends and doesn't want to spend too much time on her homework. She feels on top of the world and has the feeling that everything is possible and it is her time to shine.

When Rachel is not going to school, she loves to sing, act and especially dance.

Even the nerve damage in her left arm given to her by birth, doesn't limit her in her love for dancing and moving. As a special ambassador of the foundation for chronic illness and handicapped child , she believes that everybody should be treated equally and must realise their own dreams.

For Rachel was participating in the Dutch national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true. This was her first step into the show business and she has changed from an anonymous girl of the south-west of the Netherlands into a very popular young artist. Her song is already a big hit and she has been invited in several Dutch television shows.
A bit of help from 'presidents'

Her song was produced by the producers trio The Future Presidents.

Future Presidents is a songwriters/producers collective consisting of Willem Laseroms, Joachim Vermeulen Windsant and Maarten Hove.

Formed in 2007, they are responsible for several chart hits performed by some of the biggest artists in their home country a swell as having their own radio hits.

Besides working with Rachel on her song, they wrote and produced half of the new Ralf Mackenbach (winner of the 2009 Junior Eurovision Song Contest) album.

Future Presidents has, over the years, achieved multiple gold and platinum success throughout Europe and they have produced official remixes for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Jordin Sparks, Chris Brown, T-Pain and many others.

Together with her dancers Dylan, Melle, Daniel and Roy Rachel will rock from her scaffolding and reach for the top in Yerevan while being supported by her most important fans, her parents and her sister!
